A June 1st news article from The Independent reports that a fertility doctor with the British National Health System (NHS) is advising that women start trying to conceive by age 30, as problems with pregnancy usually take 5 years to resolve.
This stance is receiving backlash by some, including the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS), who tweeted:
"Have a baby by the time your thirty or else" messaging is neither helpful to women nor based in scientific evidence re: age & fertility.

And:
For the vast majority of women in their thirties, the best evidence suggests they have a good chance of conceiving & having healthy preg.

See our blog post “Some age-related fertility pressures may be undue” for more evidence that the majority of women in their 30s can and do achieve healthy pregnancies naturally within a year of trying.
While certainly not always necessary, our gentle treatment protocol using acupuncture, diet and herbs, can be very helpful for women in their thirties who want to get their bodies ready for a healthy pregnancy.
Either way, it’s clear more needs to be done to dispel the myths about pregnancy in your 30s.
